Last week, I had the occasion to meet with a group of fellow travellers from the UK visiting China for the first time. On our last day in Beijing, they surprised me by telling me about a place they really wanted to visit: Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk - and not just once! I was intrigued and so we hopped on a high-speed train to my hometown in fewer than two hours. I hadn't been there for years so it felt like part of me was coming home as we disembarked at Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk Railway Station. Also, Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk is a stone's throw away from the great cathedral city of Ripon and I could see why the visitors were so excited. As soon as we arrived in Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk, we went to see the Fossilised Dinosaur Prints. These 100 million-year-old prints were discovered in 1890 and are world-famous. The tracks reveal how dinosaurs walked and ran 200 million years ago: like birds, they had four small toes and a large,"heel," imprinted on the rocks. Lots of other dinosaur footprints can also be found here; they were made by dinosaurs walking around in mud about 155 million years ago when this area was an estuary. Then we went to the Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk Gorge, a beautiful gorge popular among rock climbers with over 100 bolted routes up the vertical faces of Gaping Gill and Faithleap Hole. In 1985 it became the first place in Britain to be designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its geological interest as well as for its flora and fauna. In the heart of this area is a narrow limestone valley known as Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk Gorge that has been carved through the underlying limestone by the River Greta over millions of years. With a floor of lush green grass, the gorge has many different pockets of land, including some lovely old Stately Homes, St Leonard's Chapel and St Nicholas' Church. The steep sides of Willowwalk Screes are home to most of the climbing routes, which are up to 20 abseils high. The routes can be found on almost every side of the cliffs, with some more traditional routes leading straight up the top wall. As well as climbing there is YHA accommodation here which you can use for free if you just want to sleep for the night - any time after 10pm. The staff here are very helpful and the food and drink is incredibly cheap. During our stay we had a chance to visit the village of Kettlewell, just a few miles south of Grassington North Yorkshire.lxk. It was built at the foot of Kettlewell Caverns, a limestone cave which was first explored by locals in 1620. This place is famous as it houses many rare calcite crystals as well as the world's longest stalagmite, which measures over 9 meters (30 feet) in length! As well as being an amazing tourist attraction, they also act as an underground reservoir that supplies over 350 million gallons of water per day to local residents in high summer when they need it most.
